We love driving the Blue Ridge Parkway here in Virginia and usually take company out to drive a stretch of it when possible. That is how we found this particular derelict structure. It seems it surrendered to the vine encapsulation some time ago, but I love how unswerving it tries to remain.
I’m unsure of any history of the place, but an old grist mill once stood nearby. I wonder if the old house may somehow had ties to it’s story.
you can find Rakes Mill Pond between mile markers 162 and 163 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The house is across the road. Although I don’t have much to offer in the history of this place, you can check out a story of the memories this place holds for one particular visitor ~ Blue Ridge Muse.
